Book Review

Book: personal growth companion
Author: D. M. Silveira

It would be callous to say that there is nothing in D. M. Silveira’s book personal growth companion to capture readers’ interest. The readers who use this book as a companion however are likely to be bothered by the repetitions and reiteration.but if silveira had edited some of them out, the book would have been a tougher task to read as well as understand.
The book gives advice on practical problems such as how to give and accept criticism, face challenges, develop creative thinking, remove blocks of creativity and develop a positive paradigam. It makes you ask yourself what is happiness, how not to feel lonely in life, strengthening yourself to face problems in life.It also makes you question your aims and priorities. These ideas come from a variety of sources like bhagvat gita to zen to anant pai.
The chapter, Are you Exploiting your Mind speaks fantastically on how to stand outside ones own mind and watch it work. In another chapter of this book have you met yourself lately? silveira raises question pertaining to self_awareness. Though the answers the book are always convincing, yet the book succeeds in making readers question themselves.
In short it is a book that set you thinking, and it succeeds because of the element of sincerity that runs through it.The book is meant to be a companion, to be read and absorbed a leisurely pace. The foremost thing one can find in this book is that is that silveira at places has not been able to answer certain question or the treatment of the subject falls short of the expected depth.still the book sets you thinking. Personal growth companion is a guide that leads you to yourself with a blanced perspective, greater sincerity and increased self-knowledge.
